Meet the Team
At Mystic Workshop, we’re a tight-knit trio of artists (plus one very lazy shop dog) based in Muscliff, Bournemouth, offering professional custom tattooing with a strong stylistic edge. We value craftsmanship, curiosity, and the magic of a well-executed design.
Each artist at the Workshop brings their own world of inspiration and experience — from glowing fantasy beasts to bold blackwork and precise geometry. Whether you’re booking your first tattoo or your fiftieth, we’re here to make something just for you.
Shaun Horlock
Studio Owner
Shaun is the founder of Mystic Workshop, a fantasy specialist with over a decade of tattooing experience. His work blends fine detail, glowing accents, and hand-drawn illustrations inspired by a larger world of his own creation — a personal mythology brought to skin.
Expect mystical females, beasts from beyond, and elegant ornamental designs that feel like artefacts from another realm.
Specialisation: Fantasy Illustration
AKA: Openmind
Jack Kellythorn
Tattoo Artist
Specialisation: Bold, traditional inspired
AKA: Agent Orkid
Jack’s style is a love letter to bold lines, cult imagery, and underground art. Drawing influence from Japanese and American traditional, as well as his own deeply imaginative sketches, Jack’s tattoos are both punchy and surreal.
He’s a sharp draughtsman with a strong visual voice — the guy to see when you want your tattoo to hit with intention.
Dan Horlock
Tattoo Apprentice
Specialisation: Dotwork & Geometry
AKA: Donyill
Dan is our specialist in the making — and yes, also Shaun’s younger brother — which means he’s learning the craft with plenty of hands-on guidance and high standards to meet. He’s developing a confident hand in geometric tattooing, and is now exploring his own take on traditional and ornamental styles.
If you're after something bold, clean, or experimental, Dan’s ready to work in many styles for a great rate.
Rusty
Resident Good boy
Rusty is a force to be reckoned with. Giver of love, receiver of pats, and literal obliterator of kibble. At just three years old, this English Cocker Spaniel has absolutely zero experience in the tattoo world — but he’s somehow become the heart of the studio anyway.
He’s our unofficial mascot, full-time nap enthusiast, and part-time greeter (if he can be bothered to wake up). You’ll probably forget he’s even here — until you feel a pair of sleepy eyes watching you from his bed.
We love our Rustbucket. We think you will too.
